Summoning the Muse: A Witchy Boudoir Experience
When my client first inquired about a Creative Muse boudoir session, she wasn’t entirely sure what it entailed - but her curiosity was piqued! I explained that these sessions are a way to take a standard boudoir experience and tailor it into something deeply personal, expressive, and one-of-a-kind. It’s where storytelling meets sensuality, and where we co-create an art piece that reflects you.
The Planning Process
Since she didn’t have a specific concept in mind (which I DO NOT MIND), I shared a few theme ideas to see what resonated. When we landed on a witchy/tarot-inspired session, something clicked. From there, I sent her a detailed questionnaire to start shaping our vision.
Some of the questions included:
What kind of witchy energy are you channeling?
How would you describe your personal aesthetic? (Think: moody, soft, vintage, dark romance, minimalist, maximalist, etc.)
Her answers gave me such a sweet foundation to build from. Once I had her responses, I created a creative brief and moodboard - a visual and emotional guide for the shoot, complete with inspiration images, keywords, and language that reflected the vibe we wanted to capture.
When I sent it off to her, she loved it and gave the green light to move forward!
Sourcing the Magic
Next came one of my favourite parts - prop sourcing. I wanted every element to feel intentional and in tune with the theme. I gathered a tarot deck, crystals, herbs, a chalice, and a few other mystical details. A special shoutout to The Witch’s Fix in Hamilton, where I found the perfect magical touches to bring our vision to life.
The Day of the Shoot
When the day finally arrived, the energy in the room was excited, nervous, and eager! I laid out all the props and watched her face light up as she took it all in. We both knew this was going to be something special.
I styled a few flatlays and built the backdrop to set the mood - natural lighting, soft shadows, and an atmosphere that felt straight out of a spellbook. For just over an hour, we played with poses and energy that embodied sensual, dark feminine power. It was such a joy to watch her step into that energy so effortlessly. The entire experience felt like a creative ritual - collaborative, expressive, and empowering.
The Final Images
When the final gallery came together, we were both over the moon. Every image captured that perfect balance of softness and strength - an ode to her inner witchy muse.
