For years, I’ve created boudoir art with women. Illustrating their curves, their sensuality, their power. When I first started as a Hamilton boudoir photographer, I also shot a few male boudoir sessions with people I knew. These photoshoots were enjoyable and definitely pushed me outside my comfort zone (in a good way), but I quickly dropped off as I focused on my main clientele: women.
Over the years, I’ve had a few inquiries from men here and there - some maybe serious, some definitely creepy. I wasn’t ready to take on male clients yet. However, the more mastered I have become in my craft, the more ready I have become to capture male boudoir art.
I was ruminating on this new addition to my business when I received an erotic photoshoot inquiry from the client featured in this blog (I’ll refer to him as T). The timing couldn’t have been more divine - I took it as a sign. I told myself I’d try out this male erotic session and if things go well, I’d update my website & mention it among my offering. Well - as you may have noticed - I have since updated my website, so things went PHENOMENALLY! Let me take you through it.

What Happens Before The Session
In my contact form, I have a question at the end which asks: “why are you interested in a boudoir experience?” T’s reason was because he wanted to gift these photos to his wife for their wedding anniversary (AWESOME!). He also mentioned that he’d struggled in the past with self-esteem regarding his body and wanted to build up his confidence and learn to love his body the way his wife does. I was excited to speak with T and see if he passed the phone call vibe check.
Upon inquiring, I send over a link to set up a consult call between us to answer any questions you may have, and to gauge if we are creatively compatible. T was so lovely and had such excitedly charged energy - he passed the vibe check immediately.
He was curious to know what exactly an erotic shoot entailed and what was OK to capture in his session. I explained that erotic means different things to different people, and that I’d be comfortable shooting him hard and fully nude (which he was asking about). The way I structure my erotic sessions encourages progression through a storyline. So it’s not like we’re showing up and getting hard & naked right away. Instead, it’s a build up and a lot easier to navigate on both sides.

T received the following storyline (a bit more developed than the summary below) in his creative brief. I built the story based upon the answers he gave me in his erotic questionnaire and boy, did we hit the ball out of the park.
“He walks through the door - an image stamped into his mind of a stranger lingering for a second too long after complimenting his wife in the grocery store. A quiet jealousy builds inside of him, and he moves around the house with deliberate intention. Stroking his cock, he’s imagining all the naughty things he’s going to do to her when she gets home. He’s setting the scene for what’s to come so that when she walks in the door, there’s no question who she belongs to.”

The Erotic Session
On shoot day, we worked through the brief together - me directing him based on the story we created, and him offering suggestions & ideas to make the session even more unique to his erotic narrative.
Afterwards, I sent him his proofs, and he favourited 20 images for his finals and his photo album (he added on an album as a physical gift for his wife!). Judging by this text I received from him after the edits/album proof, I think it’s safe to say he loved the result.
